The Beginning
Bulk Bags California was founded in Los Angeles with a simple yet powerful mission: to provide businesses with affordable, quality bulk bags while reducing waste. Starting with just a small 5,000 sq ft warehouse and two dedicated employees, we began building relationships with local agricultural businesses who needed cost-effective packaging solutions. Our founders recognized that perfectly good bulk bags were being discarded after single use, and saw an opportunity to create value while helping the environment.
First Major Partnership
We secured our first major partnership with a large California produce distributor, providing us with a steady supply of quality used bags and a reliable customer for our inspected inventory. This partnership validated our business model and demonstrated that businesses could benefit from sustainable practices while reducing costs. Revenue doubled in this year as word spread about our reliable service.
Expanding Services
Recognizing the growing need for sustainable solutions, we launched our comprehensive recycling program. This allowed businesses to responsibly dispose of damaged or unusable bags while we processed them into raw materials for new products. We partnered with certified recycling facilities to ensure proper handling and developed a streamlined process for categorizing bags by condition and type.
Transportation Fleet
We invested in our own fleet of trucks to provide reliable pickup and delivery services across California. This strategic move allowed us to offer complete end-to-end solutions for our customers, eliminating their need to coordinate third-party logistics. Starting with 3 trucks, we could now guarantee pickup within 48-72 hours for most California locations.
Crossing State Lines
Due to overwhelming demand, we expanded our service area beyond California to include Nevada, Arizona, and Oregon. This expansion was driven by customer requests — many of our California clients had operations in neighboring states and wanted the same reliable service they'd come to depend on. Our fleet grew to 8 trucks to support the expanded coverage area.
New Facility
We relocated to our current 50,000 sq ft facility in Belmont to accommodate growing demand. The new location features advanced inspection equipment, temperature-controlled storage areas, larger staging capacity, and improved recycling capabilities. The facility was specifically designed to optimize workflow and ensure the highest quality standards for every bag we process.
Adapting to Challenges
The global pandemic brought unprecedented challenges, but also highlighted the importance of resilient supply chains. While many businesses struggled, our focus on domestic operations and diverse customer base allowed us to continue serving clients without interruption. We implemented enhanced safety protocols and contactless pickup/delivery options that remain popular today.

Our commitment to sustainability earned us recognition from environmental organizations and industry associations. We also achieved our goal of processing over 500,000 bulk bags annually — a milestone that demonstrates the scale of positive environmental impact we've achieved.
